This course requires an enrolment key

This course provides an overview of photosynthetic organisms
emphasizing flowering plants. Topics covered include taxonomy, cell
biology, photosynthesis, respiration, classical and molecular genetics,
evolution, plant anatomy and physiology, and ecology. Critical
scientific thinking skills and the scientific method will be
illustrated and developed. Field trips to local natural areas or plant
society meetings will be included. Botany 1 has three hours of lecture
and three hours of lab and field work.

BIOL 3, FUNDAMENTALS OF BIOLOGY
Teacher: Kent Hodson
This course requires an enrolment key

This general biology course is for transfer
students who are not biology majors. Topics include basic molecular and
cellular biology, genetics, the anatomy and physiology of plants,
animals and humans, the diversity of life, evolution, and ecology.
Current environmental issues and new developments in biological science
are discussed. Laboratory experiences are integrated and stress
scientific methodology and thinking.
